Alaskan huskies are the most common sled dogs because of their performance. They have been bred for their enthusiasm for running and for their work motivation.
Our Alaskan Huskies are friendly, easy to handle and very keen to work with people.
We have 40 adult working dogs at our dog yard. Usually we have one litter of puppies per year and the puupies are born in summertime when we have more time for them. We start training them when they around one-year-old, and they work until they are 10-12 years old.
Our dogs are in 2 dog kennels from where they get to run in the bigger dog yard almost daily.
In September when the temperatures drop below +10 we start training. First the young dogs are introduced to the harness and the lines and ropes of the team. Until there is enough snow we train the dogs with a quad. By November when the sledging season starts the dogs have run a few hundred kilometres and are ready for the first tours.
